HKM Equestrian has been in Australia for a number of years.
Their company, HKM Sports Equipment, has developed based on the principles of long standing tradition and a youthful spirit.
Hkm Sports Equipment has been around since the 1960’s.
Hans Egbers, founded the company Veno-Wäsche in 1967. A this time no-one had any idea of the significance this would one day have. Production initially focused on nappies. What would today, in our age of disposable nappies, be considered unthinkable, at that time secured a regular income for the company’s 30 employees.
In addition to this, the founders also managed a large riding school which is today still managed by the family as horse management experts. Many ideas are developed with the team here and products are tested and quality standards set.
The combination of industrial sewing production and the personal riding sport ambition soon led to the manufacturing of textile items for horses and riders and the first anti-sweat rugs and saddle pads were manufactured. At first, this was only for personal use but, from the late 80s, manufacturing was for direct sales to end customers by mail order.
At the end of the 90s HKM founded our their own production site in the Far East. Their idea envisaged a change in strategy: more and more young people and a wider cross section of society were becoming interested in this great hobby. HKM wanted to enable all these people access to riding sport products at affordable prices – yet without forgoing quality.
Since 2004 HKM products are distributed only via specialist retailers and they supply 2,000 specialist stores worldwide. Their staff travel through the whole of Europe to get more and more customers interested in our products. HKM employees in Neuenhaus have received the best training and can offer all specialist dealers comprehensive advice and support.
In recent years the warehouse was expanded to a logistics centre which now stores riding sport items on an area of 13,000 m². More than 90% of orders leave the building on the same day.
The success proved them right: their company grew rapidly just as their team which, meanwhile, has 70 employees. A team that does not simply want to become better than all the others everyday, but a team which has also kept its youthful spirit and which thinks young and differently!
In Australia HKM is yet to achieve the popularity it deserves. Their matching saddle pads and bandages are a beautiful quality, with a fantastic price. Their clothing also matches their ranges and is also of wonderful quality with an eye for detail that should not be taken for granted.
